The editorial, “Military move is suspect,” (Aug. 18) leads me to ask: When did the editorial writer of the Sun Journal become so sage in the ways of military deployment of our troops around the world?
The editorial faults President Bush’s plan to bring 70,000 of our troops home from Germany, South Korea and Japan, beginning in 2006. Surely, the Sun Journal editorial writer will reveal the depth of military know-how of the Sun Journal on this subject.
Germany is now an ally. Why, then, house our troops there? Japan produces much of our products. Why house our troops there?
The editorial questions removal of troops from South Korea because North Korea “poses a significant threat” to our allies in Asia. Get a life. How much longer need we be the world’s police? It’s time our allies took up the slack.
I will continue reading the Sun Journal, but with care. It wears its colors on its sleeve. It’s an election year and the Sun Journal has become political.
When our newspapers, referred to as the Fourth Estate, become political, the people are the losers.
Please reveal the Sun Journal’s true colors! Name either the military advisor or the Democrat advocate. One of the two is behind this latest off-the-wall editorial.
