BETHEL – The three-day New England Trappers Weekend continues Saturday, Aug. 28, with a full day of trapping events and children’s activities.

The 28th annual event, which began Friday, takes place at 760 East Bethel Road in Bethel. Admission is $4 per adult; $3 per night for camping.

Saturday’s events start with a bear trapping demonstration at 7 a.m. by Mike Kazak of New Hampshire, and culminate with a concert and street dance by Elvis impersonator Brandon Moore of Rumford.

Sandwiched in between are programs about trapping martins, fishers, beaver, otters, rats, and mink, and auctions, and children’s activities.

Other events include coon dog trials with trophies, tips from Overland Jeepers of Maine, which is to have an obstacle course set up, and a Kid’s Fishing contest at the pond.

From 11 to 11:50 a.m., Dana Johnson, a registered animal damage control agent known as “The Creature Catcher,” is to conduct live trapping. Members of the Maine Trappers Association are scheduled to conduct a trap setting contest at their booth.

On Sunday, Aug. 29, Pastor Lloyd Waterhouse is to conduct a church service at 8:30 a.m. That is to be followed at 9:30 a.m. by Bob Noonan’s program on fishers and martins. The convention ends an hour later.
