FARMINGTON – Franklin Memorial Hospital will offer a free concert from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, in the Bass Room.
The concert will feature the local quintet Laid-Back Brass.
Selections of light classical and popular music will range from a pavane by Gabriel Faure, to Tiger Rag from Gilbert and Sullivan, to a piece titled “Walking Frog.” The program will display the various sides of brass music: in turn, lyrical, stately and boisterous.
Laid-Back Brass is made up of Ray Phillip and Eric Hasse on trumpet, Cynthia Harkleroad on french horn, Brian Strothmann on trombone and Ron Small on tuba.
This performance is part of the Franklin Memorial Hospital’s all-volunteer healing music program, giving patients access to live and recorded musical performances. The concert is free and open to the public. It will be taped for the convenience of hospital patients.
