OXFORD – Thomas McKeen, accused of threatening a clerk with a gun and stealing $700 in cash from the Oxford Plaza Citgo Station, pleaded innocent at an Aug. 25 arraignment.

He was indicted Aug. 19 on charges of robbery and criminal threatening.

McKeen, 30, of 45 Swampville Road, Otisfield, pleaded innocent to both counts.

He is being held in the Oxford County Jail on $2,500 bail.

At 9:40 p.m. July 29 a man entered the Citgo gas station and flashed a handgun at the attendant on duty, according to the Oxford Police Department. After locking the attendant in the bathroom, the man stole $700 from the station’s safe.

The station attendant was able to dial 911 from the bathroom, police said. In addition, an outside witness followed the robber’s vehicle toward Alpine Street and recorded the license plate number.

No one was hurt in the robbery, police said

McKeen was arrested Aug. 10 on charges related to the robbery, according to Oxford Police Lt. John Tibbetts.

McKeen also pleaded not guilty Aug. 25 to a charge of aggravated assault stemming from an unrelated incident that occurred in Norway. He was indicted Aug. 19 on that charge.

According to the Norway Police Department, McKeen was involved in a July 28 assault in the town but was not arrested at the time because he could not be located.
