MEXICO – The Child Health Center’s ProtectME program will set up a child passenger safety fitting station from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Sept. 3. The event will be at the Mexico Fire Station. The Jenn & Jay N.E. Ice Cream truck will be available. Shannon Hamner, a certified child passenger safety technician and resident of the Rumford area, will conduct inspections of children’s car seats to make sure they are being used properly. She is able to offer a number of qualified families free child passenger safety seats that the Child Health Center has obtained from the Maine Center for Public Health and the Bureau of Highway Safety.

Art exhibit

RUMFORD – Pennacook Art Center, 82 Congress St. will exhibit Watercolors by June Dragoon Sept. 3-27. An opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3.

Girl Scout family

RUMFORD – Adults and children interested in becoming assistants or members of the Girl Scouts organization are invited to an open house and information night at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at the Rumford Public Library.
