I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the policemen, firemen, my neighbors on Meadow Lane, Clover Lane and the Old Carriage Estates in Auburn, who helped search for my missing 3-year-old grandson, Ossian, on Sunday, Aug. 15.

I put him down for a nap and when I went to check on him 20 minutes later, he was gone. Then everything seemed surreal; I screamed and screamed. Within minutes, the police, firemen and neighbors were everywhere searching my house and the neighborhood. An officer asked me for Ossian’s blanket and pillow as they had called in the Lewiston Canine Department. Eventually, by the Grace of God, Fireman Low walked out of my bedroom with my grandson half-asleep in his arms; he had found him curled in a ball, asleep under my pillows. Praise be to God!

Ironically, the house had been searched many times. A couple of neighbors recall looking under beds, in the dryer, cupboards, etc. Those pillows did not look disturbed in any way! Later, when asked why he was under the pillows on my bed, he said that he had heard a noise in his room.

Again, thanks to all for such a wholehearted effort. Everyone marveled at the quick response by the PD and FD. My son and his wife said that they couldn’t believe how so many neighbors (women, men and children) pulled together so. Thank you! Thank you!
