FARMINGTON – Franklin Memorial Hospital is now enrolling students for a medical terminology course being offered this fall. The course will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. starting Sept. 13 for 13 weeks. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to identify terms of the human body, as well as diagnostic tests, diagnoses and surgical procedures used by each medical specialty. The course is designed to bring together the entire spectrum of information used by allied health professionals who need to understand and use medical terminology. Car wash
WILTON – Boy Scout Troop 518 will sponsor a car wash from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Main Street Garage to benefit its trip to the National Scout Jamboree and a trip to Washington in July 2005.
Barbecue
NEW SHARON – The Square and Compass Club will sponsor a chicken barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, at the New Sharon Masonic Hall. Proceeds will go to the building fund.
Support group
FARMINGTON – The next meeting of the Franklin Memorial Hospital Breast Cancer Support Group will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the hospital. The support group is for women who have or who have had breast cancer. The support group is a free service of the hospital’s Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center. Each meeting features presentations of special interest, as well as time of sharing personal experiences and concerns. The support group meets the first Tuesday of each month and is facilitated by registered nurse Rita Porter, a care support nurse, and Audrey Brown, physical therapy aide. The September discussion will focus on the topic “Breast Cancer Among Us” and will be led by survivor Dottie Cayford and hospital chaplain Marriott Churchill. Blacksmith’s meeting
WILTON – The Western Maine Blacksmith’s Association will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Wilton Historical Society. FARMINGTON – Franklin County Soil & Water Conservation District will hold its monthly board meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the USDA Service Center Conference Room at 107 Park St. This meeting is open to the public. Potluck lunch
WILTON – Wilton Day Extension will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Fire Station. A potluck lunch will be held, and the guest speaker will be Wilton Town Manager Peter Nielsen. The meeting is open to the public. Those staying for the lunch are asked to bring something to share for the potluck.
Men’s club
PHILLIPS – The Phillips Men’s Club will meet on the second Thursday this month. A cookout will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Small Falls. Team 1 will serve.
