LEWISTON – A woman and two children escaped injury Wednesday when the car they were riding in struck a retaining wall and landed on top of it outside McDonald’s on Lisbon Street in Lewiston.

Police said Naomi C. Gordon, 76, of West Bowdoin, stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake as she was turning into the restaurant at 11:40 a.m., causing the car to come to rest with its underside on the edge of the wall. Gordon and two boys, 9 and 7, were not hurt.

Damage to the 1993 Saturn was estimated at $2,800.
