MACEDON, N.Y. – David Sutton Greenlaw, 84, of Macedon, N.Y., formerly of Norway, died Aug. 21, showing his family courage, strength, honor and bravery. He passed from this life to proceed with what he called his “next great adventure.” Surrounded by the love of his family, he gently left us after his long struggle with cancer.

He was born in Norway in 1919, the oldest of the four children of Norman and Bernice Greenlaw. He graduated from Norway High School in 1937, earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in industrial management from MIT.

He was employed by the Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y., for 43 years, retiring as vice president of Corporate Commercial Affairs and president of Eastman Technologies in 1984.

A great philosopher, teacher, mentor, lover of all the arts and storyteller, his intellect, integrity, honor, wit and humor will be sadly missed.

His beloved wife, Billie (Wilma Thomas Greenlaw), died in 1998, and he joins her now, in Heaven.

He leaves here his three children, Thomas Greenlaw, Deborah (Ama) Merla and her husband, Bruce and Martha (Muffle) Beato and her husband, Raymond; his grandchildren, Rebecca, Katherine and David Greenlaw, Joshua and Jenna Watson, Christina Marriott and James Beato; two brothers, Dr. Robert Greenlaw and wife, Louisa, of Wisconsin, and John Greenlaw and wife, Gina, of Maine; and his nieces, nephew and many friends.
