LEWISTON – Ida Roy, 78, of 4 Laase Ave., Lewiston, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Central Maine Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born Feb. 12, 1926, in Fort Kent, she was the daughter of Baptist and Modeste Deschine Voisine. She attended Fort Kent schools.

She married Alphe B. Roy Dec. 31, 1945. He passed away in 1989. After retiring from their potato farm in Upper Frenchville, they moved to Lewiston in 1982, to be closer to their grandchildren.

Her first employment was as a welder at Bath Iron Works during World War II. Later, while raising her family she utlized her talents in several retail business enterprises.

She was a communicant of Holy Family church in Lewiston.

She is survived by a son, Arnold L. Roy and his fiancee, Nancy Barry, of Turner; two grandchildren, Nicole Ida, of Rockland and Samuel Lee, of Bangor; a sister, Robertine Gordneault, of Plainville, Conn.; two brothers, Ronald Voisine, of Plainville, Conn., and Richard “Boy” Voisine, of Southington, Conn.; many nieces and nephews; and many other close relatives and friends in the Lewiston and Northern Maine areas.

She was predeceased by a sister, Elise Charette, and brothers, Alcide, Norman “Charlie”, Gilman “Pete,” and Chester “Chick.”
