YORK – York jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first half and held on to defeat Mountain Valley, 14-6, in a turnover-plagued Campbell Conference opener.

The Falcons had a chance to strike early when York fumbled the opening kickoff at its own 15, but couldn’t take advantage. York then went on a six-play, 85-yard drive capped by Stacy Bradburn’s six-yard run, and the extra point made it 7-0.

A Falcon fumble on their next possession set up the Wildcats in Mountain Valley territory. Twelve plays later, QB Erick Rostad scored on a keeper to make it 14-0 York.

Thanks to a bad punt snap, Mountain Valley had another opportunity inside York’s 20 later in the half, but couldn’t score.

The Falcon defense finally got them on the board in the third quarter on Chris Lever’s 84-yard fumble recovery and return for a touchdown. Mountain Valley went for two but the pass failed.
