SIDNEY – Rejeanne J. (Morin) Gilbert, 60, of Sidney, went peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 3, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Her personality, strength and unwavering faith will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was born in St. Hilaire, P.Q., Canada, on Nov. 21, 1943, the daughter of Exeleuis Morin and Marguerite Lacroix Morin. She moved to the United States in 1965.

Rejeanne loved to knit and crochet sweaters, afghans, mittens and scarves, and many other patterns, to the delight of her large family and many friends. It brought her great joy to shower others with her hand-made gifts. These souvenirs of her skillful hands will be treasured by all who received benefit of these wonderful talents.

She loved the outdoors and her wonderful flower gardens are a tribute to her hard work. These hobbies brought her great joy and pride.

Rejeanne worked for 25 years for the State of Maine, retiring Dec. 1, 2003, from the Maine Health and Environmental Testing Lab in Augusta. She loved her work and her family of co-workers. She took great pride in skillfully accomplishing all her duties with cheerfulness and dedication. She lit up her work environment and she will be forever remembered for her hardworking and generous spirit.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Waterville Area HealthReach Homecare & Hospice staff for their constant help and tender care. Also, special thanks to her doctors, Dr. Gene Cheng, Dr. John Posey, Dr. Donald Magioncalda, and Dr. Glen Healey; her nurses; and her many friends and relatives whose unending care and support helped Joe and his family through this most difficult journey.
