LEWISTON – Openings are still available for Girls Introduction to Field Hockey, offered by the Lewiston Recreation and Parks Department.

The program includes four consecutive Sundays of instruction and games, and classes for 8- to 14-year-old girls will be divided into three age groups: Group I, ages 8 to 10; Group II, ages 10 to 12; and Group III, ages 13 and 14.

The program will be held at the Franklin Pasture Athletic Complex-Field Hockey Field from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 12 to Oct. 3. Play will occur rain or shine, with the exception of thunder/lightening, and an additional day of play will be added to the schedule if necessary. The cost for Lewiston residents is $35, $45 for nonresidents, and each player will receive a T-shirt. A field hockey stick, shin guards, sneakers/cleats, mouth guard, ball and water bottle are needed, and children should dress according to the weather.

Registration may be made anytime prior to Sept. 12 at the Lewiston Recreation Office, Lewiston Memorial Armory, 65 Central Ave., between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Inquiries may also be directed to 782-5951 and TTY/TDD, 784-5999.
