FARMINGTON – Irene M. Moreau, 89, of Jewell St., Jay, died Saturday, Sept. 4, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, surrounded by love.

She was born Oct. 14, 1914, in Mexico, a daughter of Elie S. and Philomene “Minnie” (Richard) DesRoches. She attended St. Theresa’s School.

She spent her life as a homemaker and for 16 years was employed at Livermore Falls Shoe Co. She was a communicant of St. Rose De Lima Church, Jay and was a longtime member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Auxiliary and the Lane Dube AMVETS.

Her great loves were her family, her many friends, music and playing cards. She will be remembered as the best audience for a joke and for her positive outlook on life.

She was married on May 2, 1938, in Mexico to Donia R. Moreau who passed away on June 6, 1987.

She is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Steele and her husband, Harold, of Lewiston, Carol Worthley and her husband, Randy, of Winslow; three sons, William “B.J.,” of Unity, Richard and his wife, Beatrice, of Jay and Ronald and his wife, Irene, of Jay; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Des Roches, of Peru; one sister, Edna Fickett and her husband, Harold, of Rumford; two sisters-in-law, Joan DesRoches and Jean DeRoche, of Peru; and a brother-in-law, Hermann Lange, of Rumford.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Arthur, Raymond, Norman and Elie, a sister, Theresa Prevost Lange, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Moreau, who still remains missing.
