TEMPLE – Author Jay Hoar, with the release of his new book, “As Maine As It Gets,” has recently delivered on a 25-year promise he made to his “Writers of Maine” classes at the University of Maine at Farmington.
Hoar, a UMF professor emeritus in English since 1999, has subtitled his new book, “The Portable Professor Hoar: An Omnibus of his Adventures in Creative Nonfiction. 1968-2004.”
In the book, 115 pages are devoted to the small-town movie theater life he grew up in.
His father, J. Sherman Hoar, owned and managed Rangeley’s Pavilion and Lakeside Theatres, Phillips’ Wilbur Hall and Strand, Kingfield’s Riverside Theatre and Mexico’s MEXICO Theatre.
The book is now available from the author and at local bookstores.
