FARMINGTON – Prudence “Prudy” Gifford, 82, of Farmington, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 3, at Orchard Park, following a brief illness.

She was born July 13, 1922, in West Farmington, the daughter of Sarah (Ames) and Ernest Gifford. She was educated in local schools and enjoyed a long career at Franklin Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator.

“Prudy” had numerous close friends that she cherished. A devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she spent countless hours volunteering her time and talent at church functions and also at various local nursing homes.

She is survived by a brother, Frederick A. “Fred” Gifford of Farmington; nephews, Brice Gifford and his partner, Kelly Curtis, of Thomaston, Brent Gifford and his wife, Myra, of Feldon, Calif., Ron Gifford, David Gifford and Jamie Rea, all of Worcester, Mass.; nieces, Beth Gifford and her partner, Mary Seavey and Bliss Gifford and her partner, Susan Stevens, all of Rockland, Joanne Gifford and Diane Gifford, of Worcester, Mass., Gloria Johnson, of Holden, Mass.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Edward A. Gifford, and a niece, Brenda A. Gifford.
