SOUTH PARIS – Foster-Carroll Post 72, American Legion, Auxiliary has helped the Western Maine Veterans Home on High Street and assisted the post during the summer.
Even though regular meetings were not held in July or August, the auxiliary, led by Virginia Gammon and Marilyn Ramsay, assisted the Legion’s bingo games and sponsored the veterans’ home August birthday party, with prizes and refreshments for all the residents, and a public roast turkey supper for the Veterans’ Home on Aug. 14. It brought in $300 for the activity fund. The auxiliary also provided salads and desserts for the Aug. 8 picnic and barbecue at the hall.
The Executive Committee met Aug. 25 to make plans for a blood drive to benefit Maine Medical Center. The drive will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the hall, Church Street. Donors may phone Marilyn Ramsay at 743-5723 for an appointment.
The regular post and auxiliary supper and business meetings will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, led by Commander Ray Berard and President V. Gammon. The unit has received several new members and 78 have paid dues early.
On Sunday, Sept. 12, the unit will hold another home party at 1 p.m. at the hall to raise funds and to provide for prizes for the next Chinese auction on Nov. 13.
