RUMFORD – The Oxford County Democrats hosted Gov. John E. Baldacci and Congressman Mike Michaud at a breakfast gathering at the Rumford Eagles Hall on Aug. 19 with more than 50 in attendance.

Sen. Bruce Bryant, Rep. John Patrick, Commissioner Fred Kennard, Linda Petrie of Mexico, Tim Carter of Bethel and Roy Gedat of Norway, candidates for House of Representatives, and Oxford County Democratic Chairwoman Cathy Newell also spoke. Joe Derouche, Mexico Democratic Committee chairman, was recognized in honor of the opening of the River Valley Technology Center, which was named for Derouche at a ceremony following the breakfast.

Host committee members for the event, which benefitted the Oxford County Democratic Committee, were Bryant, Michaud, Patrick, Linda and Bill Petrie, Tim Carter, Kennard, Cathy Newell, Ed Roach, Tom and Seth Carey, Jennifer Kreckel, Paul Dumas and Joe Derouche. Seth Carey served as fund-raising chairman.

Later in the day, the Rumford/Mexico area Democratic Field Office at 77 Main St. in Mexico was the scene of a ribbon-cutting ceremony at which Michaud was guest of honor. Attended by more than 30 office volunteers, the event featured remarks by the Michaud, Patrick, Bryant, Kennard and Linda Petrie.
