LIVERMORE FALLS – Police charged a 73-year-old man with reckless conduct and resisting arrest Sunday after he allegedly rammed his van into a riding lawnmower his grandson was operating.

And while Lt. Thomas E. Gould was trying to get the situation under control, Warren Elliott’s dog bit him.

Elliott, of Livermore Falls, called police to talk to an officer about being unable to control his two grandchildren, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.

One of the grandchildren was riding a lawnmower, he said.

Elliott drove his van across the lawn and rammed the lawnmower driven by his grandson, Steward said.

The lawnmower was totaled but no one was injured, the chief said.

Gould charged Elliott with reckless conduct and resisting arrest, Steward said.

Elliott’s dog bit Gould in the leg, he said. Gould had to get a tetanus shot at Franklin Memorial Hospital, the chief said.
