To mark the 30th anniversary of one of its most-loved sitcoms, ABC is holding a reunion for the “Happy Days” cast – even Chuck.
The reunion show, set for later this season, will bring together nearly all of the core cast from the long-running show, including Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Tom Bosley, Marion Ross, Anson Williams, Don Most and Erin Moran. Gavin O’Herlihy and Randolph Roberts, who played Richie’s (Howard) older brother Chuck during the show’s first two seasons, will also be on hand, as will series creator Garry Marshall.
Whether Marshall will explain what happened to Chuck – who was never heard from, seen nor even mentioned after the show’s second season – remains to be seen.
Along with a healthy dose of clips from the show, set in 1950s Milwaukee, and reminiscences from the cast, the special will also feature home movies of a cast-and-crew softball game Marshall instituted to help build a sense of family among the people working on the show.
Stars ante up for ‘Celebrity Poker’
Bravo is shuffling up and dealing a pack of 25 new famous folks for its fourth “Celebrity Poker Showdown” tournament.
The show is moving to a new night, Sunday, with the first game of the tournament, scheduled for Oct. 10. As with past editions, five celebs will play a game of No Limit Texas Hold “em for charity, with the winner from each table moving onto a final game and the lion’s share of the $250,000 prize pool.
Internet service provider NetZero, which apparently is OK that players might have a cocktail during the game, is sponsoring the jackpot this time around. Wireless phone company Cingular dropped its sponsorship earlier this year, citing concerns over the celebs’ drinking and occasional bleeped-out cursing.
The opening game will feature “Friends” star Matthew Perry – who previously played in the second tournament – Christopher Meloni (“Law & Order: SVU”), Stephen Root (“NewsRadio,” “King of the Hill”), comic Sarah Silverman and “Alias” star Michael Vartan.
The new tournament will also feature Chevy Chase, former NBA star Dennis Rodman, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” stars Cheryl Hines and Jeff Garlin, Macaulay Culkin, Angela Bassett, pro skater Tony Hawk and Kathy Griffin. Dave Foley and Phil Gordon will once again call the action.
