AUBURN – The Auburn Recs opened their Western Maine Seventh-Eighth-Grade Football League season on a successful note this week with a 28-0 victory over the Dirigo Cougars at Walton Field.

Buddy Foss scored 3 TD’s. Donnie Dufour had a pair of 25-yard runs. Quarterback Steve Knowlton tossed a 16-yard pass completion to Zach Bennett. On special teams, Adam LaPointe had a 40-yard punt. Defensive standouts were Cody Goddard, Dylan Therrien, Kristen McCoulough and Mark Smith.Next game is against Monmouth at home on Thursday, at 6 p.m. Monmouth, with no jayvee team, plays all its games on the road.
