I cried on Sept. 11. I also cried the day President Bush declared war on Iraq.

We, the most powerful (and, I had thought, most compassionate) country in the world did to another country what terrorists (not Iraqis) had done to us. We killed thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens, just as thousands of innocent Americans were killed on that fateful day in 2001.

As the mother of two teenage sons, I can’t understand how all this killing of innocent people is making the world safer or more peaceful. When will someone in power have enough courage to say, “Stop. Killing is not the answer?”

Bring our troops home, before more American and Iraqi lives are senselessly lost. As a nation, we should be demanding that our leaders choose their wars and their actions wisely. In my humble opinion, George Bush has failed in both respects.
