AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the American Legion Hall, Washington Street. Lunch will consist of beans and hot dogs. Members are reminded to bring their utensils. Bingo will be played.
The club met at the American Legion Hall on Sept. 1. Bingo was played after lunch. Attendance winners were Richard Brushwein and Crystal Briggs; pot of gold, Marian Kelleher, Judy Agnew and Elsie Whitney.
Society speaker
DURHAM – The Durham Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Union Church (old town hall), Route 136. The speaker, Dennis Stires of Livermore, authored Livermore and Livermore Falls in the new Androscoggin County book and co-edited it. His topic will be “Pines and Pioneers.”

Y-ettes program
LEWISTON – The Y-ettes will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the YWCA. Featured speaker will be Martha Breuning of the YWCA speaking about the local Y – what has been done and what the future holds. St. Ann Sodality
LEWISTON – The Ladies of St. Ann Sodality of Holy Family Parish will hold the first meeting of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the church hall. A potluck supper will be served at 6 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30. Tickets are $6 and can be obtained by calling Ginette Gladu at 782-5150 or any of the officers.
Guests are welcome. Highlight of the meeting will be installation of new officers and counselors and re-instatement of the remaining officers. Entertainment will be provided.
Circle program
TURNER – The Turner Village Church Ladies Circle invites the public to a program and potluck dinner at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the church vestry, 139 Main St. The speaker will be Gordon Windell, a local historian, on “The Old Days of Turner.”
The program is free and visitors are asked to bring a hot dish to share if they stay for the meal. Those wishing more information should call 225-3392.
Citizenship Day
LEWISTON – The Pentecostal Kid’s Church, The Jesus Party, invites children 5 and up to an American Citizenship Day celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Jesus Party headquarters, 291 Bates St.
Douglas Taylor, ministry director, will discuss patriotism, then show a video, “American Government for Children.” The video will teach what a citizen is and what it takes to be a good one.

DAR meeting
AUBURN – Regent Sheila Desgrosseilliers announces the Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will hold its monthly meeting on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 1:30 p.m. at her home. Following the business meeting, Portland Attorney Steven Wright will give a presentation on the Constitution.
Fall registration
AUBURN – Auburn Youth Cheering Fall Registration/Parent Night will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Sherwood Heights School cafetorium, New Auburn.
AYC offers two programs.
Learn to Cheer, a beginner program geared toward the young cheerleader wanting to learn the basics, is typically for kindergartners and first-graders who are first-time cheerleaders.
Competition teams are geared toward cheerleaders wanting to compete, offered for kindergarten through eighth-grade.
Bridge results
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Sept. 7 at the Multi-Purpose Center. North/South winners were: first, Fred Letourneau and Martine Begert; second, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Anna Vitiello and Helen Little.
East/West winners were: first, David Lock and Luke Merry; second, Nancy Lindgren and Rolande Poulin; third, Les Buzzell and Marguerite Zahoruiko. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.
The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met at Schooner Estates on Sept. 8. North/South winners were: first, Patricia Garcia and Martine Begert; second, Ron and Connie Reynolds; third, Leslie Lord and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, David Wallace and Tom Dahlberg.
East/West winners were: first, Richard Horne and Nancy Lindgren; second, Mike Quinn and Leslie Buzzell; third, Paul Pierce and Sharon Tyler; fourth, Luke Merry and Paul Barber.
