STRONG – The Franklin County Democratic Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Forster Building. The Franklin County Democrats will host a speaker from the Kerry/Edwards campaign. Other items on the agenda are focused on campaign issues and strategy. In addition, the Franklin County Democrats will host a “Meet the Candidates” picnic and social Sept. 26 at the Wilton farm of Irv Faunce and Jan Collins. Community forum
WILTON – The monthly Wilton Community Forum Breakfast series resumes Wednesday, Sept. 15, with guest speaker David Olson, who will speak on the topic “The Arts and the Wilton Economy.” The series takes place at the First Congregational Church on Main Street. Doors open at 6:30 a.m. for a buffet breakfast. The speaking program begins at 7 a.m. and adjourns at 7:30 a.m. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. The public is invited.
Parent night
FARMINGTON – An information night for parents of seniors at Mt. Blue High School will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, in the high school auditorium. Therese Hersey will answer questions. Healing service
FARMINGTON – A Lifesong Healing Service with Lorraine Louvat will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at St. Joseph’s Church. Louvat is a composer, singer, guitarist and teacher. She will offer a one-hour program of prayer, music and healing as she sings, lays hands over people or prays for their intentions. The public is welcome to attend.
Committee office
JAY – The Jay Democratic Committee, in collaboration with the Oxford County Democrats, recently established a local field office at 150 Main St. Office hours have yet to be established. Coordinators for the Jay office are Paul Gilbert and Barbara Cook. The phone number is 897-4335. The office welcomes volunteers. Franklin County Republicans meet
STRONG – The Franklin County Republican Committee met recently at the home of Roger Lambert for a cookout. Plans were completed for the Franklin County group’s participation in the upcoming election. Those running for office in Franklin County that attended this meeting were host Lambert, Lance Harvel, Tom White and representatives of the Bush-Cheney campaign and a Brian Hamel representative. Plans for the booth at the Farmington Fair were discussed. Franka and Howard Bickford will, with the help of several other members, decorate and set up the booth on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the fairgrounds. A 50/50 raffle will be held, with one ticket for $1 and six for $5. The drawing will be held on Saturday before closing. All members of the Franklin County Committee are welcome to participate in staffing the booth. Officers include President Russell Black, Secretary Eloise Stevens, Treasurer Warren Rollins, County Committeewoman Pilar Bates and County Committeeman Howard Bickford.
