FARMINGTON – A Warren man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly attempted to sell prescription drugs at Sandy River Terrace Trailer Park, Lt. Niles Yeaton said.
A “concerned citizen” flagged down sheriff’s deputies on Fairbanks Road at 5:12 p.m. to report the incident, Yeaton said. Deputies Heidi Gould, David Rackliffe, Peter Barton and Aaron Turcotte went to the park. They found Travis Martin, 21, at a residence there with 33 methylphenidate pills, Yeaton said. The pills are the generic form of Ritalin, which used in the treatment of attention-deficit disorder, a local pharmacist said. Ritalin has a calming effect on people with the disorder but will stimulate those without it, the pharmacist said.
The prescription for 60 pills had been filled by Martin the previous day, Yeaton said.
Martin was taken to jail after his probation officer was contacted. He remained in jail Monday. The case was sent to Assistant Attorney General David Fisher in Androscoggin County, who is assigned there to handle drug cases.
