PERU – The Peru Historical Society will hold its first fall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall. Plans will be worked on for the calendar year and the Oxford County bicentennial celebration to be held in 2005. The public is invited.

Special service

CANTON – There will be a special service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Bradbury Memorial Chapel at Canton Point. The service will dedicate a newly installed stained glass window honoring Wallace and Effie Conant and J. Carlton and Gladys Conant. The guest speaker will be Joe Perham. All are welcome.

Class lunch

RUMFORD – Members of the Stephens High School class of 1949 will meet for a regular monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the River Valley Grill. The class has just held its 55th anniversary reunion.

Bridge results

RUMFORD – At the Sept. 8 Rumford Duplicate Bridge Club game the winners were: first, Dee Holman and Clara Roy; second, Eric and Merilyn Shalberg; tie for third, Alan Bradford and Charlene Farwell and Ann Cormier and Woody Mercier.

The club will hold its annual pizza party at 6 p.m. before the game on Wednesday, Sept. 15.
