PORTLAND – Raymond E. Pelchat, 64, of Lewiston died Monday afternoon, Sept. 13, at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston July 1, 1940, the son of George and Yvonne (Boucher) Pelchat. He was educated in local schools, graduated from St. Dom’s in 1958, and then graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

On Aug. 26, 1961, he married the former Constance Galipeau. He worked for over 20 years as a Quality Engineer at Digital Equipment Corp. as they spent several years in Lewiston and several years in Chelmsford, Mass.

While living here, they were members of Holy Family Church. In his school years he played hockey, baseball and participated in the band.

He was a dedicated family man and an avid sports fan who greatly enjoyed following and watching his grandchildrens’ sporting events and watching his son compete for the Olympics.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Connie, of Lewiston; a daughter, Susan Collentro and husband, Jim, of Gilbert, Ariz.; a son, Marc Pelchat and wife, Kate, of Wales, Wisc.; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Eric, Amanda and Andrew Collentro and Molly Grace Pelchat; his mother-in-law, Eva Galipeau, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Joan DeOrsey and husband, Stan, of Monmouth; a brother-in-law, Paul Galipeau and wife, Judy, of Warren; a godson, Sean Galipeau Eldridge, of Otisfield; and three nephews, Scott Galipeau, of Presque Isle, Hunter Galipeau, of Warren and Michael DeOrsey, of Cambridge, Mass.

He was predeceased by his parents, and his father-in-law, Reneau Galipeau.
