WAYNE – Howard Ermold “Lindy” Lindberg, 77, of Wayne, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 25, 1927, in Bayonne, N.J., a son of Albert W. and Anna (Larson) Lindberg Sr. He was a veteran having served in the Merchant Marines and later the U.S. Army in the 11th Air Borne during World War II. He was a self-employed entrepeneur.

He started the first Boy Scout Troop for mentally retarded young men on Staten Island, N.Y., and served as Scout Master for 20 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in Bayonne, N.J., and was a member of the Staten Island Rough Riders.

Fourteen years ago, he and his wife, Patricia (Kerr) Lindberg, moved from Mendham, N.J., to Wayne, where he served as a Trustee of the Wayne Community Church. He was also a member of the Turner Golf Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat,” of Wayne; three sons, Mark Philip Lindberg, of Philippsburg, N.J., Eric Scott Lindberg and his wife, Stacy, of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Jonathan David Lindberg and his wife, Christie, of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Kerrie Grace Lindberg and her husbnad, Gayle Anders, Esq., of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Gayle Anders, Mycal Anders, Teddy Lindberg, Eryc Anders, Bryan Anders, Hoff Lindberg and Emma Lindberg.

He was predeceased by a son, Timothy Drew Lindberg in 2002, one brother, Albert W. Lindberg Jr., and two sisters, Margaret Thornberry and Ann Wilkins.
