AUBURN – After a year’s hiatus, L/A Arts will again present an International Film Series.

While the high quality and diversity of the film selections remain as strong as ever, several changes must be noted, according to a spokesman for the arts organization.

First, the series is the result of a new partnership between L/A Arts and Central Maine Community College.

All the films will be shown at the Kirk Hall Auditorium at CMCC, 1250 Turner St. Second, films will be shown the first Wednesday and Thursday of each month, October through April, except December, and will begin promptly at 7 p.m.

The third change from years past is the development of an International Film Club. Open to the public, the film club offers several benefits to its members. For a $50 membership, members will receive one ticket to each film and can purchase additional tickets for $5 each (a savings of $2 over the normal $7 ticket price).

In addition, members can receive a printed synopsis and insider notes for each film, have a vote in deciding what next year’s films will be, receive e-mail reminders about upcoming films and have the flexibility to attend either showing of a film.

Those who join the club by Oct. 1 will receive a $10 gift certificate good towards a 2004-05 L/A Arts Cabaret performance.

The films in the series are:

• “Good Bye, Lenin” (in German with English subtitles) Oct. 6 and 7.

• “Yellow Asphalt” (Hebrew and Arabic with English subtitles) Nov. 3 and 4.

• “The Triplets of Belleville” (animated film in English) Jan. 5 and 6.

• “Happy Times” (in Mandarin with English subtitles) Feb. 2 and 3.

• “My Architect” (in English) March 2 and 3.

• “To Be and To Have” (in French, English subtitles) April 6 and 7.

Regular ticket price for each film is $7; students of Central Maine Community College can see a film for free with a current student ID. To learn more about the films and how to become a member of the film club, people can contact L/A Arts, (207) 782-7228 or (800) 639-2919.
