LEWISTON – The Lewiston and Edward Little high schools’ marching bands will co-host the 2004 Band Show season opener on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Roux Field.
Eight bands will take the field at Lewiston High School in succession beginning at 6 p.m. In addition to the host bands, these schools will perform: Biddeford, Leavitt, Old Orchard, Lawrence, Marshwood and South Portland.
Admission is $3 for students and seniors; $5 for adults; and $20 for families.
The Maine Band Directors’ Association administers an adjudicated exhibition marching band circuit.
Each band will receive ratings in the categories of “overall,” “general effect,” “music,” “visual,” “percussion,” “color guard” and “drum major.” All ratings will be announced at the show. Ratings are based on a four-star system, with one star being the lowest rating, and four stars being the highest rating.
The schedule of shows for this circuit consists of five regular season shows and the finals. Shows are held rain or shine. If there is rain, shows are held indoors.
