Friday, Sept. 24: Jason Kafka, a MOFGA board member and certified organic grower, will speak about the importance of supporting local farmers and the possibilities that lie ahead for Maine’s farming community.
Saturday, Sept. 25: Lynn Miller, publisher of Small Farmer’s Journal, will give an adress titled “Farmer Pirates and Dancing Cows: A look at what it means to be a conscientious, profitable, organic farmer in the twenty-first century.”
Sunday, Sept. 26: Percy Schmeiser, a Canadian canola farmer who was sued by Monsanto for having the transnational corporation’s genetically engineered (GE) Roundup Ready canola on his land, will speak about his experience and his efforts to promote GE Free Zones around the world.
All three speakers will deliver their addresses at 11 a.m. on the Common each day.
