RUMFORD – SAD 43 Superintendent James Hodgkin will distribute information to the board Monday night showing details on the proposed Palesky tax-cap referendum question.
The buildings and grounds director will also explain a negotiated agreement with the state for transporting students from Milton Township.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the library of Mountain Valley High School.
Hodgkin said he has estimated a reduction in member town educational support of nearly $4 million if the tax-cap proposal is passed in November. As an example of how this could affect the district, he said a $1.2 million decrease would result in the elimination of 30 teacher positions, and a cut of an additional half-million dollars would result in the elimination of all extra- and co-curricular activities.
Buildings and grounds director Timothy Gallant will discuss the district’s decision to transport about 20 students from Milton Township, an unorganized territory southwest of Rumford, to SAD 43 schools. In the past, transportation was furnished by the state to the district schools.
Also on the agenda is a report by several French Club students and their teacher, Renee Thompson, on their spring trip to France; three resignations and appointments; and reports from several administrators and board committees.
