ELLSWORTH – C. William (Billy) Delgado, beloved brother of Lynda Tadema-Wielandt, died on Friday, Sept. 17, after a short illness.

“Billy” was born in Callao, Peru, on April 6, 1941, to Cesar T. Delgado of Lima, Peru, and M. Geneva Delgado Robertson of Mexico. He quickly became the favorite of many aunts and uncles in Peru and Maine for his wonderfully happy disposition, blond curls and engaging nature.

That at an early age he was found to have Down syndrome never prevented him from charming and befriending everyone he met. He lived a full and happy life surrounded by many loving people. His favorite activities were to ride horseback, swim and dive competitively, go on picnics with family and friends, take photos of events and loved ones, paint by number, hook rugs, and most of all, listen and dance to his huge collection of Elvis Presley record albums, tapes and CD’s.

His crowning glory was having visited Graceland in Memphis three times. In his late 50’s he moved to Ellsworth to a home shared with caregiver Mitch Andrade, who, together with his family, has continued a caring relationship with him for over six years. He further blossomed under the warm and loving care of Merry Sylvester, Van DeWitt and the loving staff of Downeast Horizons.

He leaves behind his loving brother-in-law, Chris D. Tadema-Wielandt, a cherished niece, and nephew, Adrianne Kimberly Holmes, and her husband, Timothy Kittredge Holmes, of Atlanta, and Christopher Eric Jones and his wife, Dr. Stephanie Ruggiano and their children, Ethan Christopher and Elyse Catherine, of Boston.

He will be missed by all who knew him – especially his sister.
