SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Beth Troutman found the back of the net at 15:31 of the first half to lift Seaton Hall University to a 1-0 win over the University of Maine in women’s soccer action Friday afternoon.

The Black Bears (4-2-1) came to life after the goal, outshooting the Pirates (4-1-2) 14-9, but could not get one past keeper Amanda Becker as she recorded the shutout.

Sacred Heart 2, Maine 1

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Carlos Caracas and Gustavo Netto scored a goal apiece in the first half to lead Sacred Heart University to its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout over the University of Maine in men’s soccer action Friday.

The Pioneers (1-5-0) drew first blood in the 29th minute when Caracas was able to head home a corner kick from sophomore Ricarti Mendes. The Pioneers extended their lead when freshman Dan North used a little footwork to get the ball to Netto for the eventual game-winner.

The Black Bears (1-2-1) increased their intensity in the second half and scored in the 72nd minute when Kevin Forgett beat the Sacred Heart goalkeeper Chris Marchese.
