LEWISTON – The dedication of the new “Price of Freedom” monument at Veterans Memorial Park has been postponed until 2 p.m. today because of Saturday’s rain.

The program, which had been planned for Saturday morning, will be held in the Main Street park at the Lewiston end of Longley Bridge.

It will begin with a bagpiper leading two honor guards. Joe Paradis and Bert Dutil, local veterans who have been instrumental in the effort to place monuments at Veterans Memorial Park, will unveil the large commemorative stone.

Parking will be available across the street, with handicapped spaces open in the Central Maine Power parking lot. Attendees are asked to bring chairs for the event, which is expected to run close to two hours.

Donations will be accepted for the possible addition of military hardware and benches at the park.
