OXFORD – Wednesday may be the last opportunity for comment on the design of a skateboarding park to be built in Paris.
Wally Hollyday, a well-known designer with the west-coast firm California Skateparks, will meet with the Skateboard Park Planning Committee at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the SAD 17 offices, Oxford.
“Basically, this is your final time to communicate on the design,” said Dave Bean, a Gould Academy skateboarding coach who is serving as a liaison with Hollyday. “Wally will bring a couple designs, and he will pass out copies for people to draw comments on.”
Hollyday will also bring detailed information on materials and labor associated with each design.
Skateboard park committee members have raised about $94,000 for the park. Some of that money will be committed to maintenance. Members have decided to shoot for a park that is much higher in value by soliciting donated materials and in-kind services to offset the costs. According to Bean, Hollyday has said his company is willing to work with local businesses and contractors while overseeing the design and construction of the park.
The committee has discussed building a $182,000 park that would be 8,000 square feet.
