CHESTERVILLE – Merrill C. “Paddy” Doak, 91, of Chesterville, died peacefully at home Friday, Sept. 17.

He was born June 27, 1913, in Rangeley, a son of John and Gladys Stewart Doak.

He received his education in Rangeley and was forman for 20 years at the tannery in East Wilton. He then farmed for 25 years with his wife, the former Janice Farrington, whom he married July 18, 1975 in Wilton.

He was a founding member of the Wilton Recreation Dept. and the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance, served on the Chestervile Planning Committee, and was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He also served on the Bishop’s Committee and was a Sunday School teacher at St. Luke’s.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janice, of Chesterville; a grandson, John Doak and his wife, Gwen, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Doak, all of Maryland; a sister-in-law, Louise Doak, of Rangeley; a daughter-in-law, Edna Doak of Maryland; two brothers-in-law, John Farrington of Dryden, and James Farrington and his wife, Sue, of Jay; numerous nieces and nephews; and former wife and mother of his son, Nelda Keep Doak, of Wilton.

He was predeceased by his son, Timothy Doak; and three brothers, Barney, Carrol and Harlan Doak.
