WEST PARIS – Desneige London, 92, of Ridge Road, Peru, died Monday, Sept. 20, at Ledgeview Living Center.

She was born Jan. 30, 1912, in Rumford, daughter of Leon and Eugenie Legare. She attended school in Rumford, graduating from Stephens High School in 1930.

She led an active life as a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and sewing. She also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with her husband, Charles, who passed away in July.

She was a member of the Maine Rifle Club and represented the State of Maine at the National Rifle matches in Camp Perry, Ohio, in the early 1960’s. She was elected life-member of the Oakdale Country Club in 2000, and played golf until 2001, at the age of 89. She was a member of the Hole in 1 Club.

In her 50’s, she decided to learn to play the piano – and she did. In her 60’s she learned to arrange flowers, working at Davis Florist in Rumford with her daughter, Charlotte, and son-in-law, Jack Davis.

She was married in June 1934 to Charles O. London. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June just prior to his death.

She is survived by one son, Samuel L. London and his wife, “Skeets,” of Gilbert, Ariz.; five daughters, Eugenie and her husband, Tim Magoon, of Peru, Carol and her husband, Bill Lafleur, of Rumford, Antoinette and her husband, Ken Probert, of Perry, Charlotte and her husband, Jack Davis, of Peru, Marion and her husband, Brian, of Rome, N.Y.; 22 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Angie Brown, of Dixfield; four nephews, Warren Brown, of Old Town, and Dale Brown, of Tumer, Neal Couture, of Rumford, Gilbert Couture, of Portland; and three nieces, Janet Conway, of Elfreda, Ariz., Carmen Lee, of Virginia Beach, Va., Vivian Vachon, of Milton, N.H.
