AUBURN – The Auburn Middle School will host an open house for parents at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. Everyone will gather in the gym for greetings and introductions, then break into grade levels to visit student teams and unified arts classes. Parents will meet teachers and administrators and get information about the opportunities for kids to get involved in leadership and after-school activities.

Dow seniors

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. A bag lunch will follow the meeting. There will be a raffle table and bingo after lunch. Tickets will be on sale for the Halloween luncheon on Oct. 27.

Seventy members attended the Sept. 8 meeting, led by President Dorothy Larrabee. New members welcomed were Ralph Lashua, Nancy Warner and Janice Bilodeau.

Trip Chairwoman Evelyn Sawin reported a bus will leave the Legion post at 8:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, for Hart’s Turkey Farm in Meredith, N.H., for the annual foliage trip. It is not too late to make reservations; cost is $43.

September birthdays were recognized. Attendance prize winners were Arlene Sieckowski and Lorraine Marcoux; pot of gold, Lorraine Marcoux, Margaret Merrill and Roger Briggs. A bag lunch and bingo followed.

Safety courses

TURNER – ATV and snowmobile safety courses will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Adult Education Building. Riders can take either the ATV or snowmobile course, not both. All material will be provided.

Adults must accompany children under age 16. All junior ATV riders must complete a safety course to ride on public ATV trails legally and they must wear a helmet.

Hymn sing

AUBURN – Marston’s Corner Baptist Church, which this month is celebrating its 192nd anniversary, will hold the annual hymn sing at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the church, corner of Beech Hill Road and Hotel Road. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served afterward. For details, contact Pastor Dale Primm at 783-3538.

Seniors trip

MONMOUTH – The Golden Age Club will take its annual foliage trip on Saturday, Oct. 9. For reservations, call Wes Johnson at 933-2228 or Thelda Howe at 933-4171 as early as possible.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Sept. 14 at the Multi-Purpose Center.

Flight A winners were: first, David Lock and Lucille Theriault; second, Jeanine Kivus and Martine Begert; third, Nancy Lindgren and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Anna Vitiello and Marguerite Zahoruiko; fifth, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau. Flight B winners were: first, Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau; second, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements.

Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Multi-Purpose Center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on Sept. 15 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; second, Bruce Murray and Lucille Theriault; third, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; fourth, Ray Sirois and John Hackett.

Another game will be played at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Schooner Estates.
