OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society met on Aug. 27 at the Kay House meeting room, 73 Pleasant St.
Following a covered-dish supper new officers for the year were installed: president, Elton Record; vice president, Dorene Bartlett; secretary, Clarence Merrill; treasurer, John Crumpton; trustee, Bob Cotton; and program chairwoman, Linda Hooker. Anyone wanting to give a program should contact Linda. After the installation of officers, plants donated by Sara Perkins were auctioned off by Elton Record.
The Friday, Sept. 24, meeting will host the Sweet Adeline Quartet at 7 p.m. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
Club to meet
PARIS – The Snow Hoppers Snowmobile Club of South Paris will hold its first meeting of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the new Paris fire station hall, Western Avenue. A potluck supper will start at 6:30 p.m. with a business meeting to follow. All are welcome. Contact President Peter Bickford at 743-8526 for details.
Bridge news
NORWAY – Join Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge in celebrating its third year on Friday, Sept. 24, when a No Bottoms game will be held and refreshments served. A partner is guaranteed.
The group played a regular session on Friday. Winners were: first, Les Buzzell and Misha Tomic; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; third, Woody Mercier and Anna Cormier; fourth, Pete Cummings and Henry Deutsch; fifth, Barbara and Paul Beegel.
