LEWISTON – The Franco American War Veterans and Auxiliary will hold a national convention on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24, 25 and 26, at the Chalet Motel, Lisbon Street.

Speakers will include National Commander Lindy McCallum, National President Fern Ronan, State Sen. Marguerite Rotundo, Lewiston Mayor Lionel Guay, Auburn Mayor Normand Guay and the local Post Commander Jerry Dewitt.

An open house and opening ceremony will begin at 7:45 p.m. Friday followed by a variety show put on by the “Just Us” entertainers, a costume judging contest, a raffle and dancing.

The business sessions of both organizations will be held at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday. Vans will be available to take out-of-state guests to the new Veterans Memorial Park for a visit.

A reception will open at 4 p.m. followed by the banquet at 6 with the guest speakers. Installation of the new national officers of both groups will be followed by dancing.

A Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday followed by a memorial service. For reservations or information, people should call Chairman Bert Dutil at 786-2305.
