AUBURN – Because of last weekend’s rain, semifinals and finals in the Auburn Co-Rec Softball League playoffs will be held Sunday, Sept. 26 at Upper Pettengill. JC Penney and Dirigo Dominators are unbeaten heading into Sunday’s action.
The schedule is as follows: 12 noon, JC Penney vs Dirigo Dominators; 1:30, Tacomas vs Dirty Dozen; 3:00, loser of first game vs winner of second game; 5:00, Championship game.
Earlier results: JC Penney 9, Tacomas 8; Mark’s Sluggers over Androscoggin Home Health; Dirigo Dominators by forfeit over Going Deep (this game also determined regular season championship as the 2 teams had tied for first place); JC Penney over Dirty Dozen; Dirigo Dominators 19, Mark’s Sluggers 6; Androscoggin Home Health by forfeit over Going Deep; Tacomas 19, Mark’s Sluggers 6; Dirty Dozen 20, Androscoggin Home Health 17.
Mark’s Sluggers has been voted to receive the annual Sportsmanship Award, with Androscoggin Home Health also receiving recognition.
Youth tryouts slated
SOUTH PORTLAND – Tryouts for the Maine Attraction Girls U-14, U-16 and U-18 ASA softball teams, will be held Sunday, Sept. 26 from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Wainright complex located off Highland Avenue in South Portland.
Duane Romano, Todd Fenstermacher, Roland Ingrisano and Mike Tuttle will be part of the staff that will be coaching the teams. All 3 clubs will be playing this fall and winter at The Bat Cave. Tournament play will start the summer of 2005.
