FALMOUTH – Eslyn Faye Bartlett, 86, of Rumford, the matriarch of the Bartlett family finished her work on earth and joined her loved ones in the heavens on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Sedgewood Commons. She was a resident of Prospect Avenue, Rumford, and had lived in the area for many years.

She was born in Bethel, on Dec. 25, 1917, a daughter of Wallace and Mabel (Godwin) Warren, and graduated from Gould Academy.

“Essie” has left us with many tales of riding the pet pig, Effie, and hours spent with her dad at his blacksmith’s shop. She had a passion for dancing and loved swinging to the sounds of big band music. She cherished her Boston Terriers. Many of her retirement days were spent with her husband Willie’ on their motorcycle. She met her gorgeous blue eyed husband’, Charles Wilson Bartlett, at a grange hall dance. In her words, “they dated the rest of their lives together.”

She was married in Bethel, on Dec. 24, 1937, to the late Charles W. “Will” Bartlett who died in Newry on March 14, 1983.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Porter, of Rumford, Nancy Pomerleau, of Saco, and Cathy Caron, of Saco; three sons, Rev. Daniel Bartlett and wife, Martha, of Wilder, Vt., Rev. David Bartlett and wife, Ann, of Rochester, Minn., and William “Bill” Bartlett and wife, Karen, of Norwich, Conn.; two sisters, Betty Dugas and husband, Frank, of Rumford, and Elaine Rogers, of South Portland; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Jean Bartlett.
