DIXFIELD – The 44th annual reunion of the Stillman and Carrie Morse Harlow descendants was held Aug. 8 at Rover’s Campground in East Dixfield.
There were 52 present. The reunion opened with a prayer, led by Norman Bryant, after which a potluck dinner was held. Following the meal, there was a time of fellowship and family picture-taking.
The main topic at the business meeting was the possibility of changing to a reunion of the Ernest and Myrtle Harlow Bryant descendants. It was voted to keep the reunion as is and remain a gathering honoring the families of Stillman and Carrie Morse Harlow.
New births recorded were: Hayden Douglas Perreault, born Oct. 18, 2003, son of Douglas and Beth Blodgett Perreault and grandson of Steve and Nancy Blodgett; Kelsea Marston, born Oct. 4, 2004, daughter of June and Neil Marston and granddaughter of Richard and Jeannette Bryant; and Brenden Hodkins, born July 23, 2004, son of Adrienne Hodkins and Almond Bryant and grandson of Pam Bryant and Almond Meader. Deaths recorded from 2003 were Claudia Bryant Byrd, Clayton Holman and Tom Trask.
Officers were elected: Norman Bryant, president; Gary Harlow, vice president, Emily Nutt, secretary, and Kay Hamlin, treasurer. A game of family trivia was played and awards were given. It was voted that next year’s Harlow reunion will again be held at Rover’s Campground the second Sunday of August.
Vining family
FARMINGTON – The 19th reunion of the Vining family was held Aug. 29 at the home of Wilfred and Janette Dunham. A potluck dinner was served at 1 p.m. and there was socializing before and after dinner.
At the business meeting conducted by President Donald Hamlin, it was mentioned that there has been three deaths during the year: Shirley Plaisted, Olive Bradeen and Christie Pingree. It was voted to have the same officers for next year: president, Donald Hamlin; vice president, Lee Knowles; and secretary/treasurer, Lois Hall.
It was voted to have Wilfred Dunham serve as chairman of the Program Committee, and the family also voted to have an historian added. John Smith was named. It was voted to put together a recipe book. The recipes should be sent to John Smith, 3 Maple St., Wilton, ME 04294. Smith also requested that information to update the family tree be sent to him.
It was decided to have the 20th reunion at Mount Blue State Park Center Hill in Weld on Saturday, Aug. 20. It is the area where the Vining families lived in years past. If it rains, the reunion will be held at Wilfred and Janette Dunham’s in Farmington.
A musical program followed the meeting, with Wilfred Dunham, Lois and Gary Hall and John Smith providing music.
