WILTON – An article on Wilton’s efforts to hire a new police chief on Wednesday’s B1 of the Franklin edition erred in describing the procedure suggested to find a new chief.
The procedure, outlined by Robert Schwartz, executive director of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association, would have town representatives determining qualifications, advertising for the position and selecting an application deadline. They would also conduct interviews, select finalists for second interviews, and make an offer of employment.
The Maine Chiefs of Police Association’s role would be to guide the town through the selection process; the decisions would be made by the town.
