NANTUCKET – Margaret Ann Gangemi passed away Aug. 21, on the island of Nantucket.
A good neighbor to William and Claire Skelton, she lived on North Auburn Road, Auburn, from mid-80s until the early 90s.
Born in Fitchburg, Mass. in 1922, she trained and then worked as a nurse at Boston City Hospital during World War II.
After her marriage to Columbus R. Gangemi, she moved to Bucks Co., Pa. where she became very active in the horse show world, both as an exhibitor and later as a show organizer.
Known as “Midge” by her many friends, she was an avid reader, an erudite conversationalist, and a woman of very definite opinions. She was a pistol and she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her three sons, Bart Gangemi of Nantucket, Mass., David Gangemi of Darien, Ill. and Columbus Gangemi, Jr. of Hinsdale, Ill.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah, in 1988.
