We Mainers love to be first, like when we were first in the nation to give computers to school kids. No. 1!
In this coming election, we will have the chance to make Maine first again. Currently, we are the second-highest taxed state in the nation. If we defeat the tax cap and re-elect all the Democrats to the Legislature to approve all the spending they have proposed, we can be the highest taxed state in the nation. We can be No. 1!
We have almost succeeded. We have taxed almost everything and spent every last dollar. We have passed high-debt bond issues so that we can remain the highest taxed well into the future, thus ensuring our place as No. 1.
Maine then can claim the undisputed title of “taxland.”
Don’t let the opposition fool you into thinking that you can spend your money better than government. Maine politicians are experts at spending your money; we are not in second place by accident. Give them a chance this election year and just see how fast they can clean the money from your pockets.
