There are two sides to every story and while former Sen. Max Cleland made several inaccurate claims about President Bush’s support for America’s veterans in a recent article, I think the unprecedented level of funding the president has provided our nation’s veterans deserves recognition.

I did some research on my own and thought it’s important readers know President Bush has overseen a 21 percent increase in military pay and increased VA medical care by over 40 percent since he first took office.

Funding for veterans increased more in the first two years of the president’s administration than in the previous six, allowing the VA to enroll 2.5 million more veterans for health care services and open 194 new community-based clinics.

As a younger voter, I have a deep respect for America’s veterans. Our nation is at war and veterans are playing a key role in this election. I only wish your readers had the opportunity to read what both campaigns have to say about veterans’ issues.
