WILTON – Raffle ticket holders can view a Meadow Muffin contest beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the field behind the ball field at Academy Hill School
The public is welcome to bring a lawn chair and enjoy the concessions while “Bessey” does her part as she munches her way to creating her “meadow muffin” (or will it be a cow pie?), organizers say. There will be a big cash win of $1,000 for one lucky ticket holder.
Participants may purchase one or more tickets at $10 apiece. A number is assigned for each ticket purchased. The field that “Bessey” is in will be divided into a large numbered grid. The number on each ticket matches one part of the grid. Whichever numbered part of the grid that Bessie does her business determines the winner.
Participants may visit with friends and neighbors, and munch on homemade whoopie pies and real muffins while they wait for Bessey.
Tickets are available at Calico Patch in Farmington or from anyone in the Franklin Association of Churches who is going to Honduras. They also can be obtained by calling Patty, 778-2425, or Katie, 778-4720. Only 300 tickets will be sold.
Proceeds will support the Franklin Association of Churches mission construction trips to Honduras. One group will work in December and the other in June. The December group will work on construction of a home for the pastor of the church in Quimistan, Honduras. Some in the group have been preparing for the trip by taking Spanish classes led by Sarah Roberts. Each trip will last for one week.
For more information about the contest or mission work, people can call Patty at 778-2425.
