MEXICO – John E. Dewar, 65, loved ones, friends and family knew him as “Buddy,” died unexpectedly at his residence on Roxbury Road, Mexico, Tuesday, Sept. 28.

He was born in West Peru on Jan. 5, 1939, a son of the late John and Iola (Turner) Dewar, and had attended schools in Rumford and Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 from 1962 to 1964.

He had been employed at Mead Paper Co. on the rewinders for many years.

He was married in Rumford on June 27, 1970 to Arline Louise White, who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include a daughter, Linda Haley, and her husband, Johnny, of Anson; four sons, Joseph LeBlanc, and his wife, Donna of Peru, Michael LeBlanc, of Sarasota, Fla., Kevin LeBlanc, and his wife, Beth, of St. Louis, Miss. and John Dewar of Auburn; a brother, Lawrence “Butch” Dewar, and his companion, Terri, of Rumford; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Wade, of Mexico, Mrs. Janice Pettegrow, of Rumford and Mrs. Peggy Mills, and her husband, Michael, of Rumford; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Jamison.
